Below are some Frequently Asked Questions and their answers!

How do I make an appointment for Hair Extensions?
Getting started is simple!
Step 1: Consultation
Choose the option that works best for you:
Online Consultation – Fill out a quick form and receive a personalized response with your custom price and recommendations.
In-Person Consultation ($50) – Sit down with me at the salon for a detailed plan. Your $50 goes toward your extensions if you decide to book.
Step 2: Your Custom Plan
After your consultation, you’ll know exactly what’s possible with your hair and the total investment.
Step 3: Book Your Appointment
Once your consultation is complete, we’ll schedule your extension installation!
Why do I need a consultation to determine how much the extensions will cost?
The price of extensions varies greatly. Pricing is determined based on your current hair density, texture, length, and fullness compared to your desired result.
How long do the extensions last?
The time the hair extensions will remain in the hair can depend on your desired result, hair texture, and how much hair we add.
On average, a lengthening service will see the extensions remain in the hair for 4-6 months before they grow out enough to be removed. During the 4-6 months you have the extensions, no in-salon maintenance appointments are required.
How are the extensions attached to my hair?
These extensions have a keratin protein tip that is softened with a heat tool and formed around small sections of your hair.
How are the extensions removed?
An alcohol-based spray explicitly formulated for the keratin tips is sprayed on the attachments. A specialized tool is used to break the bonds' seal gently, and the extension is slipped out past your natural hair, keeping your natural hair intact!
What are the extensions made of, and where do they come from?
The extensions Lindsey uses at The Silva Chair are 100% high-end real human hair, and the extensions are attached to your natural hair using a keratin protein tip. Most of the worlds extensions come from either China or India. Lindsey uses hair exclusively from India; what makes the difference is how they are sourced and the price paid for the extensions. Higher quality hair is sourced from the temples in India. In India, it is a common practice to donate hair at the temples. this hair is perfect for keratin-tipped extensions for a few reasons: Indian hair is similar to the widest range in hair texture, and it is what gives these extensions the beautiful body wave that helps them look so natural instead of hanging stick straight (a clear giveaway that you are wearing extensions). Temple-donated hair is also perfect for extensions because it is meticulously collected. Before the hair is cut, it is put into a braid, ensuring the cuticle (outer layer of the hair) is all aligned in the same direction (ensuring less tangling). The hair is kept intact in elastic bands and then purchased. The quality of hair used by The Silva Chair is hair that hasn't been previously colored or chemically altered, which gives it more longevity of use instead of breaking down and tangling as quickly. The temples then use the proceeds from selling the hair to fund the community's schools, orphanages, and other charitable purposes. These are some of the many reasons Lindsey finds it necessary to purchase from sources that only pay fair-market prices for this high-quality hair.
How are the extensions colored?
Most of these extensions are colored using textile dyes and the same technology used to color cashmere clothing! This process ensures that the color will not fade as quickly as regular hair color.
Lindsey can also custom color the extensions in-salon to match your desired color!
Will I still be able to put my hair up in a ponytail/bun or curl my hair?
Yes! Ponytails, side braids, buns, etc., are all still achievable with these extensions. There may be certain styling restrictions (for example, if you have a shaved section or are extremely thin in a particular area). If you have any concerns about your ability to style, we can discuss these during your consultation!
It is always best practice to use a heat protectant spray before heat styling your hair with or without extensions in your hair. Because these are high-quality human hair, you can still curl, straighten, and blow-dry your hair while you have extensions. Just carefully avoid placing your hot tools on the keratin tip.
Can I still get my hair color touched up while I have the extensions in my hair?
Yes! While it is not recommended to use at-home color kits, you can still go to your regular stylist and get your color touched up when you have extensions in your hair.
